Calm and Alert Our son is 8 years old and has always been a very active and aggressive child. Ever since he was little he has been difficult to control. He is one of 5 children and is definitely “different” from the others. The school recommended we have him tested for ADHD (the hyperactive form of ADD). After undergoing many tests and consultations, the ADHD was confirmed. The psychiatrists recommended Ritalin or other drug therapy. These have some nasty side effects, one being stunting of growth. Not wanting to go the drug route unless absolutely necessary, I did some research and found several studies that showed the amino acid L- theanine had been used effectively to treat ADHD kids. Theanine helps to release the neuro-transmitters dopamine and norepinephrine which help produce a feeling of calmness. These are the same neurotransmitters targeted with the drug Ritalin. After searching the Shaklee website, I found that Stress Relief Complex contains L-theanine! In the beginning of January, I started our son on both Ocean Wonders and Stress Relief Complex. Within three days I received a note from his teacher asking what we had done! He is so calm now and as alert as ever. There have been absolutely no side effects. He will come over and sit with me to read a book or give me a gentle hug (which was totally out of the question before). At school he is able to focus and control his impulsive behavior himself. We are definitely excited about the results and so are his teachers! They all have requested information on the Stress Relief Complex. They just can't believe the results! The combined effect of the Ocean Wonders and the Stress Relief Complex is much greater than Stress Relief alone. Also, the Stress Relief Complex is easy to grind into a powder and doesn't have a nasty taste. I just use a little pill grinder and sprinkle it in his oatmeal in the morning.
